Inspiration: The buildings that have a modern feel to them I based heavily off of Hugh Ferriss's work where sharp lines are combined with smooth curves. Then the other buildingd i tried to hive a cathedral look to.
Process: The project started with decideding on a layout for the cuts, I looked at several differnt ideas before deciding on a layout where it created two small voids in the center instead of one big one. After a layout had been decided on and cut into the cardboard the builgs went under way. I chose to do the old styled buildingd first. Cutting into the foam is easy which means that braking it is easy aswell, I ended up braking several peices of it before I got a building I was happy with. Carving the cathedral buildings was a lot harder then carving the modern buildings due to all of the high pillars they have which all snaped off at small impacts. Carving the modern buildings was a lot more fun, I actually was able to just use sand paper to carve them and I didnt have to worry as much about them braking. The tall metal buildings arent really conected to a artist but are there to manipulate the light. Those were made by layering tea light candles over eachother and gluing them when they reached a aproprite hight.
Reflection: I like the way the piece looks when over the light box because the tall buildings that were in the center reflect the light onto the other buildings and they all kind of glow because of it. On the negitives side the piece looks very blank and I should've created more buildings to make better shadows throughout the peice. During the proccess I learned alot about materials that were new to me. the green foam is difficult to work with and very fragile which is not somthing i'm used to so all of the buildings were distroyed and remade at some point because I kept bumping them into other things. I'd say that this piece is a seccess dispite some faliures because it gets across the message I want.

ACT answers:
1)The similarity's are primarily in the shape and "futuristic" design of the buildings. Like the uses of quick transfers from geometric to organic lines.
2)I think Hugh Ferriss has very detailed views of the citys and the symmetry and identical buildings suggest a future where individuality is not encouraged.
3)During this piece I looked also at my city and how both new and old architecture are mixed together or older buildings get modernized and tried to portray that in my city.
4)The central idea for what I did was in the mix of forms used in and attempting to portray a mixture of old and new designs for architecture.
5) In Hugh's work i noticed how all the buildings looked the same and from that i took that this future is about being ideentical and the focal point in my work is two metalic towers of the same shape, to stick with that idea.
